"Community Stories of Change" is a project to build the capacity of 18 partner NGOs from around the Philippines to produce creative, impactful, and relevant video and print stories of transformation in their communities. The multimedia storytelling project was conducted online to ensure the participants' health, safety, and security during the Covid-19 pandemic. Participants attended five (5) workshop sessions via Zoom, joined multiple mentoring sessions with seasoned practitioners, and executed media production activities from November 2021 to February 2022. The project was supported by the Kindernothilfe (KNH) Philippines.
The stories created by the NGOs have a twofold purpose; To narrate the transformation in the lives of the subjects and communities they selected to be part of their videos and articles. It also concretely demonstrates an improvement in the storytelling skills and talents of the NGO workers. The participants worked through difficulties in conceptualization, research, shooting, interviewing, writing, editing, gaining feedback, and re-editing their work, many of whom were doing this for the first time.
At the end of the training and presentation of their final work, they promised to continue to hone the skills they gained from the training experience and tell more stories that capture change and change lives for the better.
