PMFI is conducting a study that hopes to identify the essential competencies and attributes needed by beginning journalists and media practitioners to work and survive in today's media environment. The study is based on the Poynter Institute for Media Studies "Future of JournalistsCompetencies Survey" and "Core Skills for the Future Journalist"by Finberg and Klinger (2014). PMFI will use the survey results as a springboard for deeper discussions with key individuals to analyze the needs and design interventions to prepare aspiring practitioners for future careers in the profession. This is an ongoing project.
